How do I add words to my dictionary?
Open the Dictionary tab and tap any letter to assign a word. You don't need all 26 — just the letters you plan to use.
Can I change a word after I've set it?
Yes — tap the letter in the Dictionary tab anytime to update it. Changes save immediately.
I get a warning that my word doesn't match the letter. What does that mean?
LetterPass expects each word to start with its assigned letter. You can still save it — it's just a nudge to keep your dictionary consistent.
How do I remove a word from the dictionary?
Tap the letter, clear the word field, and save. Saving an empty entry removes that mapping.
Can I clear my entire dictionary at once?
Yes. Use the clear-all option in the Dictionary tab. You'll be asked to confirm — this is permanent and cannot be undone.
What if a letter I typed has no mapping?
Unmapped letters show as ? in the passphrase and a warning lists which letters are missing. Only mapped letters produce words.
Can I change the format of the passphrase?
Yes — you can choose a separator between words (space, dash, underscore, period, or none) and toggle capitalize first letter to title-case each word.
Can the clipboard be cleared automatically?
Yes. Set it to auto-clear after 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, or never — so your passphrase doesn't linger.
Why does LetterPass require Face ID?
Your dictionary contains the building blocks of your passwords, so the app locks itself behind Face ID or your device passcode to keep it protected.
The app locked itself. Is that normal?
Yes — LetterPass re-locks after 5 minutes in the background. Just authenticate again to continue.
Is my dictionary stored in the cloud?
It's stored in the iOS Keychain with iCloud Keychain sync, so it stays in sync across your Apple devices securely. It's never sent to any external server.
Why does the app go blank when I switch apps?
That's intentional. LetterPass hides its contents in the iOS app switcher to prevent your dictionary from appearing in screenshots or previews.
